Description

With support from the Nordson Corporation, TECH CORPS will implement its signature Techie CampĀ® program with 106 middle school students across DeKkalb County.

Techie Camp is a full-day, week-long summer experience designed specifically for elementary and middle school students. The goal of Techie Camp is to engage students in activities that can stimulate a deeper interest in technology as well as provide opportunities for them to express their imaginations. Students can take a "deep dive" into Programming, Robotics, App Development or Web Development.

Each camp is comprised of 20 students and led by two TECH CORPS Instructors. Families will be responsible for transportation and lunch/two snacks/beverages. Camps will be held at six DeKalb County Public Library branches. 

The dates and topics for the Techie Camps are as follows:

  • June 3-7, 2019: App Development at Stonecrest Library
  • June 17-21, 2019: Programming at Tucker-Reid Library
  • June 24-28, 2019: Programming at Salem-Panola Library
  • July 8-12, 2019: App Development at Scott-Candler Library
  • July 15-19, 2019: App Development at Clarkston Library
  • July 22-26, 2019: Programming at Wesley Chapel Library

THIS OPPORTUNITY IS ONLY OPEN TO STUDENTS WHO MEET BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

-Lives or attends school in DeKalb County
-Will be enrolled in the 6th-8th (MS) grade in the Fall of 2019

Student Selection Process:

Students interested in being selected to participate will need to complete the full application. Up to 20 students will be selected for each camp based on their application, specifically the short essay questions.  Students will be notified of selection by email beginning the week of May 6th.
